Smartphones cameras are getting better and better and are becoming one of the main selling points of the high end smartphones. OmniVision Technologies are leading with the newest technology announcing its new CameraChip sensor for smartphones that support 16-megapixel burst photography and can capture 4K2K video, or Quad Full High Definition (QFHD).
The OV 16285 is capable of operating in full resolution 4608 x 3456 video at 30 FPS, 4K2K 3840 x 2160 video at 60 FPS, 1080p HD video at 60 FPS with extra pixels for electronic image stabilization (EIS) and it's expected to enter volume production by the fourth quarter of 2012.
OmniVision's 5-megapixel imaging chip is used in the iPhone 4 and in the new iPad.
