At the Lumia 610 launch event in London last week, Conor Pierce, Vice President of Nokia Western Europe unveiled that the company is working on a "Superhydrophopic" technology that will be implemented into all future Lumia and PureView devices.
"What happens when a drop of water lands on a lotus leaf... has baffled scientists for generations... but our team in Cambridge found a solution," said Pierce.
"Nano technology lets us do it. Superhydrophobic technology makes water bounce, it stops it, rolls it off the device, that's the magic, that's what we're going to bring to the party."
No firm date was given when this technology will be implemented in Nokia’s handsets. There are already some waterproof smartphones on the market like Motorola Defy and Panasonic Eluga and I hope that Nokia will join the party soon.
Who doesn't want a waterproof handset?
