I just got done writing about a new app for Windows Phone devices that would fix the "other" storage issue for you and no sooner did I hit publish than Microsoft made an "announcement" of their own on this matter. Windows Phone's very own Joe Belfiore stepped into the ring on this matter and posted this on Twitter:
This means at least Microsoft is aware of the issue and is working on it. I never used Skydrive on my personal device so I couldn't really tell you if shutting it off helps at all or not. However the app Shrink Storage did work for me on clearing up a little bit of space. This app doesn't work for everyone, you need to have an actual "other storage issue" to see big gains in your devices memory. If you do have an issue with Other memory on your device give it try till Microsoft officially fixes the issue, it might work for you.
