It seems the endless cold war between Microsoft and Google has thawed for now. There is a joint report coming out of both camps that in fact Google is letting Microsoft use the API for YouTube in exchange for Microsoft putting ads on it's Windows Phone app. In fact they are "working together" and the new app should be out in the coming weeks. You can check out the short joint statement below:
Microsoft and YouTube are working together to update the new YouTube for Windows Phone app to enable compliance with YouTube's API terms of service, including enabling ads, in the coming weeks. Microsoft will replace the existing YouTube app in Windows Phone Store with the previous version during this time.
The best part of this agreement is the hope that Google with work with Microsoft for opening more of it's services to work with Windows Phone 8 devices.
