Chromecast Just Got Sporty! ESPN Added and More Channels Coming Soon!

While Google's Chromecast is a pretty great idea, its lack of openness to all things streaming was/is really holding it back. At launch this device only worked with YouTube, Netflix, Google Play Music, and Google Play. Fortunately (for the consumer and Google) this list has expanded greatly since then and it was just announced that Chromecast will get even more services.

If you have the WatchESPN app and the correct cable or satellite subscription packages, you can now watch ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3, ESPNEWS, and ESPN Deportes on your Chromecast. Also announced is support coming for a couple other channels, including ABC and the Disney Channel.

While the Chromecast stick isn't quite up there with other streaming opinions like the Roku stick the addition of these channels will start to close the gap and get more consumers to take a harder look at it when purchasing their next streaming device.
