Microsoft has its hands full with its Windows 10 platform rolling out in the biggest software upgrade in history, while Windows 10 Mobile due this quarter to busy the company further. However, software giant still has other avenues, such as Android, where Microsoft makes $1 billion or more per year from its apps and other services. That is soon to include Cortana, Redmond’s mobile personal assistant.
While not under full release, the Cortana app is currently in beta on Android and the newly released version 18.104.22.168 now gives users more functionality. Chief among them is the ability to now make Cortana the default assistant on an Android device. Of course, Google Now currently serves that purpose, with a hold of the home button waking the service. Microsoft has now made it possible to make Cortana the default personal assistant, and she can be awoken in the same manner.
