BlackBerry Talks Android Security

One of the questions surrounding the BlackBerry Priv flagship is how the company will manage to implement its market leading security nous on the Android platform. That should be the notoriously unsecure Android platform as 98 per cent of all mobile based malware attacks happen on Google’s platform. Today BlackBerry has said how it will make sure the Priv upholds the company’s excellent security reputation.

Google has recently said that it will issue Android updates every month for its stock Android smartphones, giving frequent security patches for users. BlackBerry has said once Google sends the updates out, it will send them to the Priv via an over the air (OTA) upgrade. BlackBerry says it is working with carriers to ensure that the turnaround for these monthly updates is quickly.

Android is as dangerous beyond what is fixable via a monthly update, and in those more serious circumstances the Canadian company says it will send out hotfixes that solve the problem in the code. BlackBerry can quickly patch all Priv’s directly, the company revealed.
